Write for Octoreads
Octoreads is a fantasy and romantasy reading site. We are open to a small number of guest contributors who love these genres and can write helpful, honest guides for other readers.
What we publish
- “Books like [book or series]” guides that explain why each pick is a good match.
- Reading lists by trope, mood or theme, such as enemies-to-lovers, found family or cozy fantasy.
- Series reading orders and “where to start” guides.
- Spoiler-light book reviews with a clear verdict.
We only accept topics about fantasy and romantasy books. Pitches on unrelated subjects will not be considered.
Guidelines
- Articles must be 100% original, written by you, and not published anywhere else.
- Aim for 1,000 words or more, with a clear structure and your own opinion in every recommendation.
- Every book you recommend should say who it is for and what to expect, such as tropes, pacing and heat level.
- No paid, sponsored or promotional links. We do not sell links or accept payment for posts.
- Please avoid heavy spoilers. Mark anything unavoidable clearly.
How to pitch
- Send us your idea through our contact form, with the working title and a short outline.
- Include one or two links to your previous writing, if you have any.
- If we like it, we will confirm and you can send the full draft with a short author bio.
We read every pitch, but we cannot reply to all of them. If you do not hear back within two weeks, please assume we are not able to use it at this time.
